Welcome
Welcome to Flight Unmanned e-newsletter, this issue led by our detailed report on plans by the UK-based GFS Projects Ltd to transition their experimental coanda-effect air vehicles into a family of manned and unmanned craft. That development effort will commence with a 1.2m diameter civil UAV with this expected to be commercially available in two years.
Other stories in this edition include exploration of new generation endurance UAVs by the US Air Force Research Laboratory, an update on India’s MALE development programme, and Spain’s selection of the IAI Searcher II UAV for operations in Afghanistan.
Our programmes section in this edition looks at datalink plans for the Dassault-led Neuron unmanned combat air vehicle. We also introduce a new section, operations, with this to focus on lessons emerging from the use of UAVs in both civil and military environments.
Flight Unmanned reporters will this week be at the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International’s Unmanned Systems Europe 2007 conference in Cologne, Germany.
Flight Unmanned e-newsletter is a free service brought to you every two weeks by Flight, and it is jointly distributed with our partners AUVSI and the European Commission-initiated UAVNET working group.
